Palamós City Council has already activated the measures to restrict motorized access to the natural area of Castell-Cap Roig, an action that will be repeated throughout the summer season with the aim of protecting this environment of great environmental value and reducing the risk of forest fires.

The limitation mainly affects vehicle access to various forest trails and paths in the area, especially during the months with a greater influx of visitors and with greater danger arising from high temperatures and drought. This regulation will remain active until after the summer.

Protection of one of the most emblematic natural areas of the Costa Brava

The Castell-Cap Roig area is considered one of the most valuable natural areas on the Girona coast. Every year it receives thousands of visitors attracted by its beaches, which ones, paths and natural landscapes. Precisely this high frequency makes necessary control measures to guarantee its conservation.

The closure of motorized access seeks to avoid overcrowding, reduce the environmental impact and facilitate prevention tasks in the face of possible forest emergencies. Despite vehicle restrictions, Access on foot will continue to be allowed for visitors.

Usual measures during the summer season

This device is part of the prevention plan that the municipality applies every year to coincide with the arrival of summer. In addition to access restrictions, surveillance and control tasks within the natural space are also intensified.

The authorities remind that public cooperation is key to preserving this environment and insist on the importance of respecting safety and environmental regulations, especially during the months of maximum fire risk.

A very frequented natural space

The area of Castell-Cap Roig is one of the most visited by both residents and tourists arriving on the Costa Brava. The combination of natural heritage, coastline and outdoor activities make this space a prominent point of interest throughout the summer season.

From the council they note that these actions allow the public use of the space to be compatible with the need to conserve it for future generations.
